In a unique grant designed to assist veterans and military families, the Red Cross Veterans Affairs Volunteer Services Program (VAVS) has donated over $12,000.00 worth of comfort items to the two Lexington based VA Medical Centers.  The Medical Centers requested key items that would assist wounded warriors and other veterans with the healing process in their polytrauma programs.  The Bluegrass Chapter provided electronic games which were particularly helpful for patients suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, and DVD players, CD players and IPODs which assists with pain management and lowering stress by focusing the mind away from pain and discomfort as well as other basic items.
